On our way to Thunder Bay!

This morning at the Amtrak platform at Waterloo, before boarding the train, we gathered together with family members and heard these words from Matthew 20:25-28:
"Jesus called [his disciples] to him and said, 'You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over the, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'"
We also heard from 1 John 3:18:
"Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action."
We then prayed:
Dear God, you watch over your people when they go out and when they come in, when they are home and when they are away from home. Come, Holy Spirit, watch over each of our mission trip travelers as they travel to serve you by serving others in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. May they return to us in good health, strengthened in faith, filled with compassion for others, and ready to serve as you call us all out into the world with grace, mercy, and peace. Amen.
Please pray for safe and uneventful travel today and that the Holy Spirit would bind us together as one in Christ as we embark on this journey.
